Weekend Happenings March 25th – March 27th
The Cubs announced opening day, folks are flooding to Belmont Harbor, and Wrigleyville restaurants are setting up their patios. This can only mean one thing… Spring has sprung in Chicago! We have successfully adjusted to Daylight Savings and are ready to take on this inviting weather. Here are some of the best things going on in Wrigleyville and Lakeview East this weekend.
Jerry Cantrell at The Vic
The legendary Alice in Chains founder and lead guitarist, Jerry Cantrell, is performing at The Vic (3145 N. Sheffield) on Saturday night. Last October, Cantrell released his third solo album Brighten, and now fans have the opportunity to see the album performed live at a historic Chicago venue. This show will be the second stop on the Brighten tour!
Chicagoans will gather for a night of raw vocals and live instruments from a true rock icon. Everybody has a heavy metal fan in their life, make their week by taking them to this once in a lifetime show.

Cooking & Queens Night at Get Me in the Kitchen
Learning to cook just got a lot more fun. On Friday night, Get in The Kitchen (3617 N. Broadway) is hosting Cooking & Queens: Sushi and Sass Night. “Learn how to make Sushi Rolls and be entertained by our awesome drag queens! Join us at the Party School of Cooking Classes as we make the sushi rice, spicy mayo and sushi rolls! Have fun while cooking a meal you won’t soon forget, hen stay for the drag show!” This one of a kind experience is quintessentially Chicago. Learn something new this weekend.
Step back in time at Hush Money
Let’s get groovy baby. Hush Money, (located on the second story of Mordecai Chicago, 3632 N. Clark St) transforms their space into themed pop-ups. This is one of the last weekends for their current pop up, Parties They Inspired. “Parties They Inspired, draws from vintage 1970s hosting/cocktailing manuals to deliver a drink menu and ambiance galvanized by the era – Pink Squirrels, Brandy Stingers, vintage service pieces, swizzle sticks, vinyl records, velvet paintings. Each drink is delivered with historical context to illuminate the menu. Mixing up a variety of vintage and rare spirits and adding in a healthy dose of 70s kitsch.” Put on your widest bell bottoms, roundest sunglasses, and step back into time at Hush Money. We recommend pregaming with an Aperol Spritz while spinning a Fleetwood Mac record.

Chicago Restaurant Week Begins
While we all enjoy the defrosting of yet another harsh winter, foodies can simultaneously enjoy Chicago Restaurant Week, happening from March 25th – April 10th. For these 17 days, Chicagoans get to enjoy special meal packages created by their favorite neighborhood spots. We went ahead and did the work for you, so here is a compiled list of all the deals going on in Lakeview East. We urge you to finally try that place you’ve been meaning too, or to use this as an opportunity to order something other than the usual. Expand your palette and find a new favorite spot!
Tickets are not necessary, however, reservations at all participating restaurants are highly encouraged.
Dinner and a Show at Uncommon Ground
Keep it lowkey and local this weekend. Spend your Saturday evening having dinner while enjoying a live show. Uncommon Ground (3800 N. Clark St) provides concertgoers with an intimate space and a seated dinner. The lineup for Saturday consists of Spooktacular, followed by headliner LLO LLO, a power pop band consisting of four Chicago artists. Since opening in 1991, music and live art have been the venue’s number one focus, and they continue to host these events to keep the tradition alive. With an extensive menu, with vegan and gluten free options available, attendees have plenty of food options to choose from. Support local artists at this affordable event.

Visit the Insta-Worthy 2D Restaurant
On February 22nd 2022, we welcomed 2D Restuarant (3155 N. Halsted) to the neighborhood. If you’re an avid coffee drinker and lover of doing things a little out of the ordinary, we encourage you to step into this work of art, literally. The owners, Vanessa Thanh Vu (Interior Designer) and Kevin Yu (Chef), spent two years with artist Mia Larsen, creating a spot that makes you feel like a character in a drawing. As appealing as the interior may be, we also have to praise the hand brewed Phin style coffee. “The Phin coffee brewing method combines the benefits of pour over and French press crafting exceptional flavors.” Pairing perfectly with your fresh brewed cup, is a pon-de-ring style donut. Absolutely everything in 2D is original and cannot be found anywhere else in Chicago.
Pro Tip: Right now, 2D has partnered with The Winnie the Pooh Show and are selling Winnie the Pooh Donuts (which yes, are as adorable as they sound.)

Traffic Light Party at Replay
Ready, set, glow! Replay (3439 N. Halsted) is hosting a “traffic light” party, Saturday night where attendees grab a glowstick upon entering, each color representing a different relationship status. Grab green for single, yellow for “maybe dating” and red for taken. Hosted by the glamorous Alex Kay, there will be go-go dancers and live DJs. There are 26 beers on tap to choose from, and of course a full service bar to help boost your confidence on the dance floor. See you there!

Dragonforce takes The Metro
The British Power Metal band Dragonforce flew from across the pond to tour North America. On Saturday, join Dragonforce at The Metro (3730 N. Clark St) for a high energy rockin’ good time.
“Known as the fastest band in the world, Grammy-nominated extreme power metal band DragonForce is based in London, England. Their platinum-selling record, Through the Fire and Flames, brought them international acclaim and was featured as the most-challenging song on Guitar Hero III. Their energetic and humorous live performances have won them fans on every continent.”
Prepare for guitar solos, long hair, laser shows, and tons of confetti. We’ll see you in the pit!
Dark Comedy Improv at the Annoyance Theatre
This Saturday night, head over to the Annoyance Theatre (851 W. Belmont) for an evening of improvised comedy, with a dark twist.
“Fire& Beer is a fully improvised comedy show that explores the dark sides of life, relationships and human beings. The show features the Annoyance House Ensemble who excel at both long- and short-form improv. You can expect lots of laughs during this unpredictable improv show.” Sit back, relax, and let your dark side out at this special event. This is a judgement free zone. If you can’t make it this weekend, don’t worry! Fire & Beer is also scheduled for April 2nd and April 9th.
